The technique for enjoying life is to notice the little things in life that happen all around us. Today’s life is filled with advancements in technology to help in our lives, yet we still do not seem to have a second to spare. Maybe technological advancements have made us forget about the happiness you can create by just sharing a family meal around the table or going for a walk, manifesting a life filled with every day joys.

To enjoy every moment, we must decide what we want out of life and what we enjoy doing. Having a daily schedule is a necessity, in order to make sure you give yourself some ‘me’ time. So what can we do to make sure we get the most out of every day?

Here are some tips to help you:

Don’t Expect Perfection

At the end of your day say to yourself ‘I did the best I possibly could and made the most of today, tomorrow is a brand new day.’ Don’t beat yourself up about some minor things you didn’t accomplish. Your goal isn’t really to achieve a completely empty To Do List; there’s always more to do, and doing things – not being bored – is what keeps life interesting. There’s always tomorrow and that’s all that matters.

Daily Tasks

Do your daily chores in order of importance. The key is to add some fun and spice to these tasks, to keep them from becoming dull. Sing along to the radio while you are doing the dishes, dance along with the vacuum as you push it around the house. Take pleasure in doing mundane chores.

Take Regular Breaks

Whether you are at home or work, give yourself a break every now and again. If at work say hello with a smile to everyone you pass on your way to the coffee machine; if at home, take a stroll outside. Breaks don’t have to be long or complicated. You can use these breaks to do nothing more than take long slow breaths, and this can be enough to reduce your stress and renew your energy to enjoy the rest of the day.

Make Time for Things You Enjoy

Make it a point sometimes to do what you want to do. This includes basically anything that you really enjoy doing and puts a smile on your face.

Look At the Bright Side

Look for the good in each situation and what you can learn from it, rather than looking at it in a negative way. This can be easier said than done, but it is actually the most important aspect of enjoying each day of your life. If you need help in picking up your mood or changing your negative point of view, identify some music, movies, or photographs that tend to make you smile, and then pull them out when you need to improve your day.

If all else fails, just sit or stand up straight, breath deeply, and force the muscles of your face into a smile. You’ll be amazed at how easily smiling can lead to happiness, rather than the other way around. With these few tricks up your sleeve, you’re well on your way to making the most of each and every day of all the days you’re lucky enough to spend on Earth.
