Lucid Dreams for Beginners
Having a lucid dream is essentially a very simple idea. It is nothing more than the condition of being aware that one is dreaming while in the midst of dreaming. In this context, lucid means aware or conscious. The degree of lucidity of any dream depends on the stability of the dream itself, how much of the dream can be recalled upon awakening and most importantly, the control that one can exert over the events of the dream.
The most striking aspect of having a lucid dream is this very control. Knowing that the things going on around you are only a part of your dream is something which is quite unlike anything else. You are at the wheel of this ship and have full control over what happens. Other than your imagination, there are no boundaries to what you can do in your Lucid Dream experiences.
Imagine for a few moments what that is like. Dreaming usually seems a lot like reality. Most people even feel most of their senses and faculties as if they were awake. The difference is that when lucid dreaming, they know they are dreaming. They know that, no matter what happens, they cannot die or become injured while in the dream state. The normal rules and regulations of reality no longer exist. This is, for all practical purposes, you inborn virtual reality world and you make up all the rules. The depth of realism and imagination is not hemmed in by a budget or computer graphics.
Lucid Dreaming is an astonishing experience; more and more people are finding this out for themselves. While most people have a Lucid Dream at some point in their lives; wouldn’t it be incredible if you could have Lucid Dreams whenever you wanted to?
If you truly want to open up a new path into some pretty amazing experiences then you probably want to learn just what you can do with these dreams. Imagine, if you will, being able to create your own universe, your own movie saga, create novels and book, or even experiment and design things all in the state of peaceful relaxation and slumber. You could even time travel and speak to people you have never met or have not seen in many years. Your dram has no limits!
Being able to have Lucid Dreams on a regular basis was until very recently a very difficult thing to accomplish. People would spend as long as a year training themselves before having even the first lucid dream; others never managed to achieve it.
So are there any simple ways of experiencing a Lucid Dream?
Many people who have experienced a Lucid Dream swear by eating certain foods just prior to the dream. If you would like to try this they usually recommend orange juice, milk, cheese, and mustard. These seem to produce the best results.
Other foods are less effective but are still thought to help; pickles, ice cream and popcorn. These foods do have the drawback of having a lot of salt or fat ? meaning that they are less likely to produce restful sleep.
Can Technology Assist You?
Your chances to experience Lucid Dream session improves with the new advancing technology. There are now devices on the market that alerts you that you are dreaming and which can induce a Lucid Dream Session. These are quite innovative in that they are simply masks which monitor your eyes. When they detect REM or Rapid Eye Movement, which is an indicator of dreaming, a red diode blinks into your eyes. This beam is registered in your brain and serves as a reminder that you are in fact dreaming and that you are still in control. It is then that you can take control o the dream.
The most exciting developments have been in audio technology. Sound waves at slightly different frequencies are played in to each ear of the listener ? a technique known as binaural beats. This can open the experience of Lucid Dreaming to many people.
Binaural beats serve to induce a synchronizing in both hemispheres of the brain. As if instantly these two special frequencies induce the brain to produce a state of REM sleep. This is where your Lucid Dream can begin.
If you’ve always wanted to try out Lucid Dreaming, binaural sound offers the quickest and easiest way to begin.
