I have stage fright and sometimes I don’t want to go to school because every week, I have to do TUSC (TotallyUnbelieveable speaking Club) and I have to present I front of the Class. I always get so nervous that I get butterflys in my stomach. What should I do before I go up? I’ve tried taking a deep breath but it dosent work. What could I do to lower my nervousness?

Nothing to it but to do it really.
Stop thinking. Focus on a boy you like, or hunger, or something taht can easily distract you, until the second you get up there.
Then, start off by talking much louder that the person before you, or who called you up or whatever, because this will snap most of the room to attention at least for a few seconds, and make you feel like you have control.
From there it will only get easier.
You need THREE deep breaths, and then picture them all in leotards as you approach your audience. They are just as frightened as you to get up in front of class…relax and learn from your experience.
Whatever you do try not to think about it too much it will just make it worse.
i had to do a papper in front of the class and what i did i looked at the back of the room to a blank spot of the room and if i got neves i had a tooth pick and poke my finger to get my mind of the class it worked for me it might help you
I hold onto something like a pencil but DON’T fidget with it, and I find and object to stare at just above the people’s heads so to them it feels like I am making eye contact but to me it is just the painting on the wall behind them. Remember also that everyone feels the same way and nothing bad will happen to you.
Hi There
I am a Trainer, who still gets stage fright….
My formula is this….
a) See yourself in action in your mind before the action. See it the way you want it to happen
b) Action: focus on talking to the audience as a friend not as an audience
c) Use a object or an item e.g. pointer… to be your security support.
Hope that helps….
Stage fright is very easy to deal with if you do it right. First, find one of your friends in the audience or just look at one person and as you become comfortable look at more and more people or practise what you say in advance. So just relax is the number one rule. I am an actress and I still get stage fright when I audtions do shows and debate. So relax it is tottaly normal. Love ya let me know if I can help you more.

I find that when I get nervous I can calm myself down by telling myself that it’s easy, I’ve done it a hundred times before, it’s a piece of cake, ect. I also make sure that when I start to speak, that I do so slowly, clearly and loudly. Don’t ever just stare in one direction, you’ll get a spaced out look and lose everyones interest.
Also, always practice ahead of time, either in a mirror or with your friends as an audience. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will be with what you are saying, and have less worry about forgetting what you are going to say (which is what stage fright mostly is). Another thing, if you have a good imagination, is to try to imagine the audience wearing something ridiculous.
Hope this helps.
